Electromagnetic Spectrum Wavelength Color Chart
The electromagnetic spectrum is the range of frequencies the spectrum of electromagnetic radiation and their respective wavelengths and photon energies.

Electromagnetic spectrum wavelength color chart. Red light has a wavelength of 700 nm and a frequency of 43. Astronomy across the electromagnetic spectrum. For example different detectors are sensitive to different wavelengths of light. The electromagnetic spectrum is a range of frequencies wavelengths and photon energies covering frequencies from below 1 hertz to above 10 25 hz corresponding to wavelengths which are a few kilometres to a fraction of the size of an atomic nucleus in the spectrum of electromagnetic waves.
Visible light has a wavelength range from 400 nm to 700 nm. Show a chart of the wavelength frequency and energy regimes of the spectrum. But light waves can also have wavelengths lower or higher than the wavelengths in the visible spectrum and many familiar types of radiation are just light waves with other wavelengths. It is electromagnetic energy.
The graph below shows where color is positioned in the range of radiant energy. While all light across the electromagnetic spectrum is fundamentally the same thing the way that astronomers observe light depends on the portion of the spectrum they wish to study. In order to understand this we must begin with the fact that color is a form of visible light. It is also known as the optical spectrum of light or the spectrum of white light.
The low range of the color explains why it is difficult to distinguish this color in the spectral band. In the above color spectrum chart indigo is made a subset of violet color. In terms of frequency this corresponds to a band in the vicinity of 405790 thz. Essentially that equates to the colors the human eye can see.
The electromagnetic spectrum covers electromagnetic waves with frequencies ranging from below one hertz to above 10 25 hertz corresponding to wavelengths from thousands of kilometers down to a fraction of the size of an atomic nucleus. It ranges in wavelength from approximately 400 nanometers 4 x 10 7 m which is violet to 700 nm 7 x 10 7 m which is red. The visible light spectrum is the section of the electromagnetic radiation spectrum that is visible to the human eye. The frequency of wavelength range for indigo is around 425 450 nm and frequency of 670 700 thz.
You might recognize the spectrum as the order of colors in a rainbow. Electromagnetic radiation in this range of wavelengths is called visible light or simply lighta typical human eye will respond to wavelengths from about 380 to 740 nanometers. The image below shows lights visible spectrum which runs from violet to red.
